What is JUMPS?

JUMPS is a not for profit organisation dedicated to helping young people in South West get more from music. We're made up of a group of like-minded partners including music educators, charities and youth organisations and also have strong links to other music oriented bodies, venues, companies and private individuals.

In effect, we act as a hub, supplying independent information and direction, education, and advice to encourage more music and a more professional approach to its making and delivery. We do help individuals directly but, importantly, are also a contact point for the many organisations involved in bringing music to the public at large.

Perhaps you're a care home who'd like some help in staging an interactive concert? Maybe you need help with legal issues or health and safety issues? Do you need to know who currently has a budget that might help you fund your event? Do you need some know-how about promoting yourself? We're here to help you find the answers to these and many other questions. And if we can't help you ourselves, we'll almost certainly know someone who can.

Who exactly do we help?

IIf you have an interest in music, and are connected to Somerset and the South West, we're here for you. You don't necessarily have to live here. Maybe you'd like to stage a concert here or perhaps are interested in bringing an educational programme to the region?

We aim to be of benefit to all abilities and age groups, from those interested in picking up an instrument for the first time to the seasoned professional. A key aim is to reach and assist the music teachers and leaders responsible for enabling others to enjoy music.

Who funds us?

JUMPS is principally grant funded by the Department of Media, Culture and Sport and is closely connected to the DCMS/DCFS initiative Music Manifesto.
